Crash Leads to DUI Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI 

Barbara Christian-Brooks, 57, of Berkeley was arrested June 7 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to Deerfield Police reports

Police observed two cars pulled over in the Lake Cook Road construction zone near Ellendale and after investigating learned Christian-Brooks hit the other vehicle from the rear, according to the report. Police also detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from her. She failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. July 10 in Waukegan.

William Ohl, 68, of Glenview was arrested June 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol, according to Deerfield Police reports

Police observed Ohl driving in the vicinity of Interstate 94 and Waukegan Road with “heavy front end damage” to his car with the bumper dragging on the ground, according to the report. After stopping him police noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath and a bottle on the floorboard between his legs.

Ohl failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .125, according to the report. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. July 3 in Waukegan. 

Criminal Damage to Property 

The front passenger window of a car parked in the 900 block of Hazel Avenue was smashed between 8:30 p.m. June 4 and 7 a.m. June 5, according to Deerfield Police reports. Nothing was reported taken. 

Driver’s License Infractions 

Jesus Bccerra-Hernndez, 27, of Beach Park was arrested June 1 for driving without a valid license and improper registration display, according to Deerfield Police reports. After stopping Bccerra-Hernandez for improper registration near the intersection of Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads, police learned he did not have a license. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. June 18 in Park City.
