Crime Victim Fears Rifle Blast Shattered Glass Door

Criminal Damage to Property 

A Deerfield resident feared shots from a 22 caliber rifle may have shattered two lower levels of a sliding door between 9:30 a.m. June 15 and 9:15 a.m. June 17 in the 1700 block of Carol Court, according to Deerfield Police reports

Though police inspecting the scene could not determine the cause of the broken glass, the victim told officers responding to the call “two ‘pop’ sounds from a 22 caliber rifle” were heard around 9:15 a.m. June 17, according to the report. The victim did not hear glass break or see anyone with a rifle or a bb gun.

The sidewall tire on the front passenger side of a vehicle was punctured with a screw or nail in the 700 block of Deerfield road June 17, according to Deerfield Police reports. The victim told police a similar incident, that time by a knife, occurred approximately six months ago. 

Disorderly Conduct

Leroy Myles, 49, of Elgin was arrested for disorderly conduct June 18 at 340 South Waukegan Road, according to Deerfield Police reports. After previously warning Myles to reduce his noise level earlier that day, police made the arrest after returning to the location after a second complaint. He was released on bond. 

Driver’s License Infraction and more 

Luis Sanchez, 37, of Highwood was arrested June 20 for driving without a valid driver’s license and improper lane usage, according to Deerfield Police reports. After stopping Sanchez on Deerfield Road for failing to signal a lane change, police learned he did not have a license. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. August 6 in Park City.
