Deerfield Pays $70,000 to Settle Police Lawsuit

A Deerfield police officer had sued the village saying he was unfairly suspended without pay in 2006.

The Village of Deerfield will pay $70,000 to settle a lawsuit from a police officer who said he was unfairly suspended from his job in 2006, according to an article in the TribLocal.

Officer Anthony Parisi was suspended after a psychological evaluation deemed him unfit for duty, but was reinstated after evaluations from two other psychologists disagreed, the article states. Parisi claimed he was suspended because Chief John Sliozis didn’t like some memos he had written, such as one that complained about safety procedures not being followed at the firing range.
