Twenty-year Deerfield Police Department veteran Anthony Parisi, 45, died suddenly Friday morning after being admitted to a Chicago hospital Wednesday with severe dehydration and flu-like symptoms, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Deerfield Police Facebook page states, "It is with great sadness that we report the sudden passing of our brother, Deerfield Police Officer Anthony Parisi. Final arrangements are pending."

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Village of Deerfield recently approved a settlement for a lawsuit brought by Parisi, claiming he was suspended without proper procedural steps being taken - after a psychological evaluation showed he was not fit for duty.
