Driver Flees After Police Stop, Officer Gives Chase
The following arrest information was supplied by the Bannockburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Karlene Lesh of Barrington Hills was arrested Sunday for driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing and eluding and improper stopping after a high speed chase on the Tri-State Tollway, according to Bannockburn Police reports.
Police first encountered Lesh as she was stopped in her vehicle in an eastbound lane on Half Day Road near Lakeside Drive, according to the report. After stopping her, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. When the officer asked her to step out of the automobile, she “put her car in drive and took off,” entering the Tollway.
Police followed Lesh onto Interstate 94 driving at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. Bannockburn police stopped the chase at Highway 176, according to the report. Lake Bluff Police took over stopping her on Center Drive near Lake Michigan in Lake Bluff. Bannockburn police arrested her there.
