Injuries are not life threatening for woman hit by vehicle in downtown Highland Park Saturday.

Both the driver and pedestrian involved in a collision Saturday on Second Street in downtown Highland Park sending the person on foot to the hospital with non life threatening injuries were charged, according to Highland Park Deputy Police Chief George Pfutzenreuter.

“It will take her some time to recover but the injuries are not life threatening at this point,” Pfutzenreuter said updating the injury report from Saturday.

The driver, Frederico Alvarez, 33, of Park City was arrested for driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Additional charges may be pending, according to Pfutzenreuter. Alcohol was not a factor. The pedestrian, Renee Klein, 70, of Highland Park, was cited for crossing in an area other than a crosswalk.
