Elderly Woman Spots Intruder Outside Bedroom

Similar incident reported about 2 weeks earlier at another Deerfield residence.

Police responded May 11 to a report of a residential burglary in process at a home along Willow Avenue.

A 69-year-old woman told officers she was watching TV in bed when she noticed a male intruder at the doorway to the room. The woman claimed in the police report that the “subject peeked his head in and immediately jumped back out of sight” when he was spotted.

A 75-year-old male, also home at the time, told police he was sitting on a coach downstairs when the incident occurred and didn’t see anyone enter or leave.

The homeowner did tell authorities that the garage door and front door were open because he was cleaning his car.

Police responded to a  on May 5 at a residence along Carliles Avenue.

In that case, the Deerfield resident told officers she was reading a book in bed when her dog started to bark. The woman said she went to investigate and confronted an intruder in the hallway. She said the man had apparently entered the house through an open garage door.

No arrests have been made in either incident, police report.
