Failure to Signal Leads to DUI Arrest

Brian Heffley, 34, of Deerfield was arrested June 6 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with an expired registration, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police originally stopped Heffley for failing to signal while leaving a parking lot in Deerfield Square, according to the report. After stopping him, police smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. June 26 in Waukegan.

Myles Karnazes, 21, of Normal was arrested for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with an expired registration, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police originally stopped Karnazes for an expired registration in the vicinity of Waukegan Road and Elder Lane, according to the report. After stopping him, police smelled a moderate odor of cannabis and performed a search. A plastic bag containing approximately 1.9 gram of a green leafy substance and a small glass bong were found. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. July 16 in Park City.

Nicole Lauren Lanski, 19, of Deerfield was arrested June 8 for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police observed Lanski driving at a high rate of speed during the Tinman Triathlon on Margate Terrace and signaled her to stop, according to the report. After stopping her, police smelled a strong odor of cannabis and subsequently found two glass pipes, a small metal grinder and a one-hitter cigarette all or some of it containing cannabis. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. July 16 in Park City.

Driver’s License Infractions

Erica Gonzalez-Herrera, 22, of Mundelein was arrested June 7 for driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle, according to Deerfield Police reports. After performing a random computer check, police learned her license was suspended. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. July 2 in Park City.

Alvaro Javier Corvera-Rivass, 30, of Waukegan was arrested recently for driving without a valid license and speeding, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police stopped Corvera-Rivass for driving 51 miles per hour in 35-mile-per-hour zone on Waukegan Road near Hunter Court. After stopping him, police learned he did not have a valid licensed. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. July 2 in Park City.
