Indictment Expected for Armed Robbery Suspects

Three men accused of holding up a Deerfield merchant make court appearance.

The three men charged with armed robbery and kidnapping in connection with the attempted hold up of a Deerfield cellular telephone store April 8 are expected to be indicted on the charges within a week, according to Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Christina Kye.

Lavell Hughes, 41, of Hazel Crest, Tony Johnson, 20, of Harvey and Andre Wadlington-Anthony, 28, of Harvey appeared before Judge Marguerite Quinn today for a status hearing in the Skokie branch of Cook County Criminal Court.

Kye asked Quinn to continue the case to May 7. “We expect a return of an indictment by that date,” Kye said.

Wadlington-Anthony, Johnson and Hughes will return to court at 10:30 a.m. May 7 in Skokie. They remain in Cook County Jail unable to post the $35,000 cash portion of a $350,000 bond.

Deerfield police arrested the three men in Bannockburn April 8 after a high speed chase on the Tri-State Tollway that involved assistance from a number of neighboring departments as well as the Illinois State Police.
