Libertyville Man Indicted on Drug Charges After Bannockburn Arrest

Police say they pulled over Matthew Connolly while searching for another man, and discovered marijuana in both his car and later at his home.

Matthew Connolly of Libertyville was indicted last week on drug charges stemming from his arrest in October in Bannockburn.

He was pulled over by police who said he matched the description of a possible armed robber. Although once they pulled him over, police said he did not match the robber's description, police said an odor of marijuana lead them to search his car.

They found two glass jars and three plastic bags with a leafy substance which tested positive for cannabis, according to the police report. There was also a digital scale.

The investigation lead police to search Connolly’s home, where police found an additional seven jars of leafy substance which field tested positive for cannabis, according to the report. There was also additional drug paraphernalia.

He was indicted on one count of unlawful posession of cannabis with intent to sell and unlawful possession of cannabis. These are both Class 3 felonies with a potential sentence of two to five years. 

He will be arraigned at 9 a.m. July 3 in Waukegan.
