Man Charged With Attack of Woman on North Shore Bike Path Near Libertyville

A Honduran citizen who is currently living in Waukegan was arrested Monday for the attack of a female jogger along the North Shore Bike Path near Libertyville last week, according to the Daily Herald. 

Denilson J. Martinez-Rodriguez, 21, has been charged with charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, unlawful restraint and aggravated battery in a public place and is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $500,000 bond, according to the Daily Herald. 

He is accused of grabbing a 22-year-old woman who had been running along the North Shore Bike Path on June 15 near the Route 176 underpass and pressing his chest against her back, according to the article. The woman was able to get away, the Daily Herald reports. 

Martinez-Rodriguez was arrested Monday after police received a 911 call regarding a suspicious male leaving a trail behind Warren Township High School in Gurnee, according to NBC Chicago. Police said Martinez-Rodriguez admitted to assaulting the woman while being questioned, according to the article.
