North Shore DUI Roundup: Nov 23-29 Edition

A list of DUI arrests on the North Shore as reported on Patch in the past week.

Bannockburn

Robert Erickson, 57, of Highland Park was arrested Nov. 16 for driving under the influence and improper lane usage, according to Bannockburn Police reports.

Police observed Erickson swerving within his lane near the intersection of Waukegan and Half Day Roads. After stopping him, police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the car and again from Erickson’s breath when he stepped out of the vehicle. He failed field sobriety tests. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Dec. 11 in Waukegan.

Gurnee

Eric J. Henry, 32, of W277S8870 Hilltop Lane, Mukwonago, Wis., was charged by Lake Forest police with leaving the scene of a property damage accident at 12:55 a.m. Nov. 23 after police received reports of a hit-and-run crash on Route 41 at Route 60. Henry was stopped a short time later by Gurnee police, who charged him with aggravated driving under the influence, Lake Forest police said. His court date is Dec. 17.

Highland Park

Javier Cano-Osio, 31, of Highwood was arrested Thursday and charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and no registration lamp illuminated after being stopped by police near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Chicago Avenue, according to Highland Park Police reports. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Dec. 27 in Waukegan.

Vanessa Banderas, 21, of Evanson was arrested Saturday and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving while license suspended after being stopped by police in the 800 block of Skokie Valley Road, according to Highland Park Police reports. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Dec. 19 in Waukegan.

Jeffrey Kolker, 48, of Northbrook was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the influence and failure to yield at an intersection near Half Day Road and Western Avenue, according to Highland Park Police reports. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Dec. 13 in Waukegan.

Rachel Gertzfeld, 23, of Highland Park was arrested Monday and charged with driving under the influence and no taillights illuminated after being stopped by police in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue West, according to Highland Park Police reports. She was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Dec. 27 in Waukegan.

GLENVIEW

Ismael Sanchez-Medrano, 32, of the 5200 block of West Strong Street in Chicago, was arrested in the 3700 block of West Lake Avenue at 3:40 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, according to police. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without a valid license, disobeying a red light, improper lane usage and speeding, police said.

MORTON GROVE

Jonathan Martinez, 29, of Evanston was stopped for traffic violations at Dempster and Central Nov. 16, police said, and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Court date is scheduled for 01/13/13.

Keti Lazarevska, 21, of Chicago, was stopped for traffic violations Nov. 17 at Greenwood and National, police said, and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Court date is scheduled for 12/09/13.

NILES

Paul E. Binder, 56, of Glenview was charged with DUI Nov. 15 at about 6:20 p.m. in the 8900 block of Golf Road. An officer responded to a car crash, and the victim, a 51-year-old Chicago man, said he had stopped for a red light when Binder struck his vehicle. When asked if had had anything to drink, Binder said he had gone to a bar and drunk about six Bud Light beers. Police said he had to steady himself on the side of his vehicle, and had the odor of alcohol on his breath. His court date is Dec. 6 in Skokie.
