Pediatrician Hit by Semi While Biking

Bicyclist is in stable condition after accident Tuesday morning.

After she was hit by a semi-trailer while biking at Willow and Shermer roads Tuesday, a Northbrook woman was sent to the hospital.

According to the Northbrook Star, Deborah Ehrlich, 50, was hit by the truck around 10 a.m. and transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a representative for Advocate Lutheran General told Patch that Ehrlich was in stable condition.

Ehrlich, who is a pediatrician with offices in Deerfield and Libertyville, was wearing a helmet at the time, Deputy Fire Chief Ron Schinleber told the Star.

Northbrook Police identified the truck driver as Andre Dukes, 44, of Joliet, the Star reports. Charges are pending against Dukes, according to police spokesperson Michael Shep.
