Police Arrest Two Men Who Tamper With Door Handle

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal Trespass to Land

Sergio Perez, 24, and Martin Perez-Valencia, 20, both of Highland Park, were charged with criminal trespass to land May 18, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police initially observed Perez and Perez-Valencia driving eastbound on Lake Cook Road May 17, turn onto Heather and stop in the 20 block of Ferndale, according to the report. A little later, police received a 911 call informing them two men were in the back yard and “jiggling” the door knob.

The caller did not know the men, who turned out to be Perez and Perez-Valencia, became “terrified” and called 911, according to the report. Having information on the identities of Perez and Perez-Valencia, police were able to locate them and place them under arrest.

After communication with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office, a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass to land was approved, according to the report. Perez and Perez-Valencia last appeared in Lake County Court Thursday in Waukegan.
