While Deerfield Police and the were responding to the fire, they found “items that could be consistent with the manufacture of ‘home remedy/herbal’ medicinal cures and could have played a role in the fire,” according to the release.
According to the report, the police are waiting for the lab report to determine the legality of the substances found.

Police and fire personnel found a victim with burns who was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by the fire department. Police have been unable to talk to the victim who remains hospitalized, according to the release.
Damage to the home was minor, according to the release.
