Police Blotter: $6,800 Plow & Two Tons of Salt Stolen

The following incidents were reported by the Deerfield Police Department between Feb. 19 and Feb. 24.

Theft:

Police were called to 495 Lake Cook Road at 3 a.m. on Feb. 22 in reference to a theft. According to an employee with Snow & Ice Management a suspect(s) stole a Monroe Box Pusher Plow valued at $6,800 from the rear parking lot of the property. The plow, weighing 3,500 pounds can only be attached to Bobcat vehicles. The employee said it was the second plow stolen from the area in recent history.

A couple of hours later police returned to the same location in reference to another report of theft. Apparently an unknown subject in an unknown salt truck stole two tons of rock salt that belonged to Winter Services. Apparently the company keeps the salt and a Bobcat in the back parking lot of the .

A local resident reported his $900 laptop missing to police on Feb. 19. He told officers that on Feb. 18 he was eating at when he left his computer case there but doesn’t remember exactly what happened. Also inside the case was a $260 camera. The local resident says he did notice a suspicious female sitting next to him that wasn’t eating. Authorities say they’re attempting to view Whole Foods video surveillance.

Trespassing:

When an employee entered her office building at 405 Lake Cook Road she noticed a bicycle in the stairwell and believed it belonged to Nicholas Thomas. The employee told officers she’s had past issues with the 50-year-old Northbrook man and he’s been issued written and verbal no-trespass warnings. Authorities say Thomas was discovered sleeping in a hallway. He was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property.

Property Damage:

Police responded to the  in response to a report of criminal damage to property. An employee told police he was approached by a guest who noticed a car with a smashed window smoking in the parking lot. Police say the Grand Caravan was parked in the handicap space and locked. Authorities spotted two sets of footprints around the vehicle. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle who said he’d left it there overnight and after surveying the damage reported several items missing from the car.
