Police Blotter: Alleged Underage Drinker Pushes Pregnant Woman

The following incidents were reported by the Deerfield Police Department.

Domestic Violence:

Police responded to Chestnut and Walnut roads on April 16 after reports of a man and woman fighting. When officers arrived they found 19-year-old Adam Castlewitz and his fiancée. Police say the Deerfield resident was swaying, had slurred speech and admitted to shoving the woman.

The police report states the victim told officers she was three-months pregnant with his twins. She also mentioned Castlewitz had been drinking after attending a funeral in Northbrook and that he is bi-polar and she didn’t think he took his medication.

Officers didn’t see any visible marks or bruises on the woman and handed her a domestic violence information packet.

Castlewitz was charged with illegal consumption by a minor and domestic battery.

Theft:

A customer reported his wallet stolen from his locker on April 18. The victim told officers when he returned from working out his locker was still locked but his wallet was missing from inside. The Glenview resident said $200 and a slew of credit cards were inside.

On April 20 police were called to in reference to a retail theft. When officers arrived an employee told them he watched Elizabeth Kaufman place two cosmetic items into her purse and walk out of the store without paying for them.  The products were valued at $66.94. The New Mexico woman was charged with retail theft. Her court date has been set for May 5.

Officers responded to another report of retail theft at Whole Foods on April 21. An employee told authorities 71-year-old Estuardo Vaca tried to make off with $32.99 worth of Cinnamon Force Blood Sugar Balance. The Chicago resident was caught in the act and charged as well.

Property Damage:

On April 16 an officer was conducting surveillance in an unmarked squad car in the parking lot of when he noticed two males exit the store smoking. Police say the men removed two “Quik Fold Side Tables” from a display, unfolded them and put them on the ground.

While sitting on both tables at once, the officer watched one of them break. Authorities say one of the men, later identified as 52-year-old Alexander Gavi, put one of the tables back and kicked the other one away. The men then took off.

Police pulled the men’s car over in a parking lot across the street and charged the Skokie resident with criminal damage to property. His court date has been set for May 5.
