Police Blotter: Burglars Create a Ruse

Ruse Burglary
A pair of burglars used stealth to rob a house with the homeowner present July 5 in the 1100 block of Lake Cook Road, according to a news release from the .
According to the release, a white male approached the victim introducing himself as a fence repairman. He escorted the homeowner to the back yard while another suspect entered the building and removed cash and jewelry.

The suspects fled in a white Ford F150, according to the release. The police are encouraging citizens to let them know if they are approached at home by a person claiming to be a repair serviceman.

Walter Todd, 19, of Northbrook was arrested July 4 for illegal consumption and possession of alcohol, according to Deerfield Police reports.
After police stopped a car at 1:37 a.m. July 4 for an expired registration sticker, they observed Todd, a passenger in the back seat, hiding what appeared to be a bottle, according to the report. The officer also smelled alcohol from Todd’s breath. Police removed the contents from the bottle for testing. Todd will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. August 7 in Park City.
