Police Blotter: Cashier Charged for Undercharging Customers, Keeping Difference

Sam Kwartowski, 43, of Arlington Heights was arrested Saturday for retail theft, according to . Home Depot loss prevention personnel called Deerfield Police after observing Kwartowski canceling transactions on his cash register and keeping the money customers paid for the merchandise in the amount of $226.26. He was released on bond and will appear in Cook County Court at 10:30 a.m. August 23 in Skokie. 

Robert Nelson, 56, of Deerfield was arrested July 23 for retail theft, according to Deerfield Police reports. Nelson was observed by Whole Foods security personnel transferring 10 packages of pork chops and salmon from a shopping cart to a canvass Whole Foods bag and leaving the store. The value of the merchandise was $104.38. He was released on $120 bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. August 21 in Park City.
