Police Blotter: Cell Phone Use Leads to Arrest, Repeat Solicitation Offender Arrested

Hand Held Cell Phone Use, No Driver’s License
Manuel Cruz-Sanchez, 35, of Wheeling was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license Sept. 10 after Deerfield Police stopped him for driving while using a hand held cell phone, according to Deerfield Police report.
Police spotted Cruz-Sanchez near the intersection of Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads when he was observed driving while talking on a cell phone and not having a seat belt fastened, according to the report. Police then discovered he did not have a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Cruz-Sanchez was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Oct. 16.
Soliciting Without a Permit, No Driver’s License

Demarcus Robinson, 19, of Munster, IN, and Noor Sobuh, 27, of Highland, IN, were arrested Sept. 8 by Deerfield Police, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police observed a large white van near the intersection of Hermitage Road and Longfellow Avenue with Sobuh sitting in the driver’s seat and Robinson at a door holding a clipboard, according to the report.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer recognized Robinson from a previous encounter and then learned he issued him a warning for soliciting without a permit August 24, according to the report. He was then arrested for soliciting without a permit.
During the incident, police also discovered Sobuh’s driver’s licenses in both Illinois and Indiana were suspended, according to the report. He was then charged with driving with a suspended license.
