Police Blotter: Christmas Lights’ Cord Cut and More

Damage to Property 

The multicolored Christmas lights belonging to a Village resident who lives on Warrington Drive have been cut three times in one week, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

The victim reported the damage to Deerfield Police Sunday after the third time the cords for the lights were cut, according to the report.

Driver’s License Infractions 

John Clifford, 27, of Northbrook was arrested Saturday for driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol, according to Deerfield Police Reports

Police performed a computer check while observing Clifford driving in the vicinity of Waukegan and Lake Cook Roads, according to the report. The check showed Clifford’s driver’s license was suspended. A search turned up an open container of alcohol. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in Park City. 

Samata Mehta, 35, of Buffalo Grove was arrested Nov. 25 for driving without a driver’s license, driving with one headlight and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, according to Deerfield Police Reports. 

Police spotted Mehta driving westbound on Lake Cook Road near Wilmot Road with a headlight out, according to the report. Though the police activated emergency light and siren, Mehta continued to drive west, slowly at times, until she reached Milwaukee Avenue and exited to the north. She finally stopped at her residence. 

According to the report, Mehta “could not understand (what the officer) was asking her” when she was questioned about her failure to stop because “she spoke Hindi and almost no English.” He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in Park City. 

Phillip Hudson, 46, of Elmhurst was arrested Nov. 28 for driving while license suspended after being stopped for a burned out license plate light in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Ridge Roads, according to Deerfield Police reports. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in Park City. 

Sherry Duffie, 27, of Waukegan was arrested Nov. 30 for driving with a suspended license, according to Deerfield Police Report. She was stopped after police ran a random computer check at the intersection of Lake Cook and Pfingston Roads. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. in Park City.
