Police Blotter: Cook County Sheriff's Officer Assists DUI Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI 

Gheorge Plesca, 27, of Des Plaines was arrested Jan. 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without insurance, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

An officer from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police had been following Plesca northbound on Waukegan Road observing him cross the center line, according to the report. When the two cars reached Deerfield Road, the Cook County officer signaled Deerfield Police.

Deerfield Police then stopped Plesca and noticed a strong odor of alcohol from his breath, according to the report. Plesca failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of .176. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Feb. 17 in Waukegan. 

Criminal Damage to Property

A private vehicle was vandalized in a driveway on Hazel Avenue on Jan. 30, according to Deerfield Police reports. The owner pulled into his driveway at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 and at 6 a.m. the following morning noticed his rear window smashed. The police believed it was not burglary. 

Driver’s License Infraction 

Gui Yue Xu, 45, of Chicago was arrested Jan. 29 for driving with a suspended license and failure to yield on a red light, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

Xu failed to stop for a red light while making a right turn from Lake Road northbound onto Waukegan Road nearly causing a collision with a police car, according to the report. After stopping her, officer learned her license was suspended. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. March 5 in Waukegan. 

David Lee, 26, of Buffalo Grove was arrested Jan. 23 for driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration and improper use of registration, according to Deerfield police reports. 

According to the report, police conducted a check of Lee’s license plate and discovered some of the violations which were confirmed after the stop. After the stop, Lee told police he took the registration from another car to place on the one he was driving. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in Park City.
