Police said a car operated by Daniel Clave was sitting idle in the middle of Waukegan Road around 1 a.m. on June 26. Officers passed the vehicle and watched Clave start to drive extremely slow and then tried to turn off Waukegan Road. He had to swerve quickly to avoid hitting a fence.

After pulling over the vehicle to talk with Clave, a 21-year-old from Deerfield, police reported smelling alcohol on his breath and the odor of marijuana in his car, where the drug was later found. After failing a field sobriety test, Clave was charged with a driving under the influence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date is July 20.

Illegal Soliciting:

On June 27, police were dispatched to the area of Central Avenue and Jonquil Terrace in response to a solicitor complaint. Roberta Mays, 27, of Texas told police she was selling magazines for CIS Sales. Police told Mays she needed to obtain a permit from the village for such activities. Mays agreed to leave the area.

About two hours later, another officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Radcliffe Circle in response to another solicitor complaint. Authorities say Mays was arrested for soliciting without a permit. Her court date is July 21.
