Goran Lajic

Goran Lajic, 44, of Vernon Hills was arrested Dec. 10 on two counts of DUI and failing to have automobile insurance, according to police reports.

Police spotted Lajic’s vehicle stopped on the street in the vicinity of Deerfield and Waukegan roads at 12:41 a.m., turned on their lights and followed him into the Deerfield Square parking lot. Lajic allegedly told police he did not know why he was stopped on the pavement, according to the report.

After allegedly smelling alcohol on Lajic’s breath, police administered a field sobriety test. When Lajic allegedly failed the test, he agreed to take a field breath test and allegedly had a blood alcohol test of .275, according to the report. He was then arrested.

Lajic was released on $100 bond and will appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 in Waukegan.

Roman Martell Neal

Roman Martell Neal, 29, of Zion was arrested Dec. 9 by Deerfield Police in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Waukegan roads for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and obstruction of traffic according to police reports.

Police found Neal allegedly slumped over his steering wheel with the engine running, the car in drive and his foot on the brake at 1:59 p.m., according to the report. He did not respond when police banged on the window.

When the vehicle started moving into the intersection, one officer directed traffic around it and the other got Neal’s attention. At police direction, Neal put the car in park. According to the report, Neal’s “speech was slurred and his statements did not make any sense.”

Police also allegedly found an open can of beer in the car and smelled alcohol on Neal’s breath according to the report. Police transported Neal to the Deerfield Police Station where field sobriety tests were performed rather than the scene for safety, according to the report. Neal refused a breath test.

Neal was released on bond. He will appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 9 a.m. Jan. 11 in Waukegan.
