Police Blotter: DUI, Driving With Suspended License

DUI 

Leonel Abarca, 28, of Glenview was arrested April 23 for driving under the influence, failure to properly secure a child under 8 in the vehicle and speeding, according to . 

Police spotted Abarca driving southbound on Waukegan Road near Hunter with radar showing his speed at 46 miles per hour with a posted limit of 35, according to the report. When police stopped him, the officer smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath and he had “slow, thick tongued speech,” according to the report.

According to the report, Abarca admitted drinking alcohol and said his child was sleeping in the back of the vehicle. An inspection by the officer revealed the child was not properly secured.

Abarca failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath exam, according to the report.

Abarca was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 9 a.m. May 13 in Waukegan. 

Driving With Suspended License 

Magdalia Delgado, 26, of Chicago was arrested April 23 for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and a driving with a broken tail light, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

Police saw Delgado driving in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads with a tail light not working, according to the report. When asked for her driver’s license, she said it was left at home. A check with the secretary of state showed it was suspended. 

Delgado is scheduled to appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 3 p.m. May 17 in Park City.
