Police Blotter: Jewelry Allegedly Stolen During Renovations

The following incidents were reported by the Deerfield Police Department.

Property Theft

On July 1, officers responded to the 1400 block of Country Lane in regards to a theft report. The homeowner told police several pieces of jewelry were missing from a tray inside her closet. The items included a Mavodo watch and her mother’s engagement ring. Noting that her house was under construction, the woman also told police that she noticed the items missing after a contractor with several employees installed carpet in her bedroom and closet.

On July 4, a 28-year-old Deerfield resident reported his phone was stolen. The man told police that he had put his Motorola Droid cell phone in the shopping cart with his keys but he couldn't recall if someone took it from his cart or if he left it there. The owner said he had Lookout Software, which enabled him to track the phone to a Northbrook address that night and then a Lyons address the next morning.

Illegal Solicitation

Monique Clarke, 23, of Chicago, was arrested on July 9 for solicitation without a permit. Police took Clarke into custody along Willow Avenue after they warned her about her illegal actions the previous day. Her court date is Aug. 4.
