Police Blotter: Police Arrest Father for Child Endangerment and More

Child Endangerment 

Yijing Luo, 39, of Deerfield was arrested Dec. 19 for child endangerment after police found his young son outside near the family home barefoot without a coat in 34-degree temperatures, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police received a call informing them the child was outside the home at 1665 Macie Court with neither a coat nor shoes at 7:42 a.m. Dec. 19, according to the report. Police found no one at house but located siblings at Wilmot Elementary School. 

After talking to school officials and a sibling, police were able to determine the child lived with his father, stepmother and siblings at the home, according to the report. The stepmother left for work believing Luo would drop the child at daycare. Luo boarded a train into Chicago to go to work without dropping the child at daycare.

Police contacted the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, according to the report. Officials at the department said an investigation would commence. The child was released to the stepmother. 

Luo surrendered at the Deerfield Police Station shortly after 6 p.m. after returning from work, according to the report. He was arrested, released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 9 in Waukegan. 

Cannabis Related Offenses 

Dana Harris, 19, of Deerfield, was arrested Dec. 17 for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

Stopped for a burned out registration light, police noticed an odor of cannabis coming from Harris’s vehicle, according to the report. She admitted to having a one-hitter pipe and a search turned up both the pipe and a “zip top baggie” containing cannabis. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Jan. 22 in Park City. 

Driver’s License Infractions 

Laura Rios-Aguirre, 35, of Highwood was arrested Dec. 17 for driving without a valid license and disobeying a traffic signal, according to Deerfield police reports. 

According to the report, police stopped Rios-Aguirre after she drove through a red light in the 700 block of Waukegan Road. After checking, police learned she did not have a driver’s license. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Jan. 22 in Park City. 

Gina Mason, 39, of Mt. Prospect was arrested Dec. 17 for driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to Deerfield police reports. 

Mason arrived at the Deerfield Police station to retrieve a car which had been impounded, according to the report. After learning her license was suspended, police stopped her after she left the facility. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Jan 22 in Park City.
