Police Blotter: Police Arrest Woman for DUI, Man for Marijuana Possession
The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
DUI
Darlene Lee Ann Carter, 46, of Deerfield was arrested Oct. 18 for driving under the influence, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police spotted Carter driving westbound on Longfellow Ave. at 1:10 a.m. with no lights illuminated and stopped her after she turned northbound onto Waukegan Road, according to the report. Carter was chewing gum and the officer smelled a “feint odor of alcohol.”

Carter failed three field sobriety tests and registered a .094 blood alcohol level during a field breath test, according to the report. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 14.
Possession of Cannabis

Sean Craig, 20, of Crystal Lake was arrested Oct. 18 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and non working tail lights on a car trailer, according to Deerfield Police reports.
According to the report, police stopped Craig when the tail lights on the trailer being hauled by his truck flickered and then went out in the vicinity of North Avenue and Waukegan Road, according to the report.
The officer smelled the odor of cannabis, asked Craig if he had any in the vehicle and he admitted it after being asked twice, according to the report. He then handed the police a bag with a green leafy substance and a smoking pipe. The substance later field tested positive for cannabis.
Craig will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Nov. 12 in Park City.
Failure to Appear Warrant
Andrew Melnick, 48, of Deerfield was apprehended Oct. 18 on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a driving under the influence charge outside of Lake County, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police spotted an automobile registered to Melnick being operated but the driver did not fit his description and no stop was made, according to the report. Police later went to Melnick’s residence on Oxford Drive and were told Melnick would contact the police.
After Melnick surrendered to the police, he was unable to post the $3,500 cash portion of a $35,000 bond, was taken to the Lake County Jail and transferred to the custody of the sheriff, according to the report.
