Police Blotter: Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver

Troy Jones, 24, of Evanston was arrested April 20 for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, improper lane usage and failure to use his turn signal, according to . 

Police spotted Jones driving his Acura at a very slow rate of speed in an area bounded by Lake Cook Road on the south, Kates Road on the north, Waukegan Road on the east and Pfingston Road on the west, according to the report. 

After following him for more than 30 minutes, the officer stopped Jones when he failed to use his turn signal during a lane change on Lake Cook Road, according to the report. Jones told the officer he was looking for the Marriott.

After smelling cannabis emanating from the vehicle, the officer asked Jones to step out of his car and searched him, according to the report. During the search, the officer found a bag of green leafy substance which a field test later confirmed to be 6.6 grams of cannabis, according to the report. 

According to the report, the cannabis was in nine packages “consistent with the way it is used for sale.”

Jones was released after posting bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 8:45 a.m. May 21 in Waukegan.
