Police Blotter: Possession of Stolen Vehicle, DUI

Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, Retail Theft 

What started out as the alleged theft of a basket of groceries from in Deerfield Nov. 8 wound up with Keith Pochter, 54, of Lincolnshire facing charges of alleged possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony, according to reports. 

After police received a call from Whole Foods that a man allegedly left the store in a blue Audi sedan, officers stopped Pochter driving on Deerfield Road in the Audi according to the report. The report indicated after checking not only found unbagged groceries as allegedly reported by loss prevention personnel at Whole Foods, but also learned the car was stolen.

Police further determined there were two alleged warrants outstanding against Pochter. He is free from Kane County Criminal Court on $250,000 bond for alleged theft charges and on $25,000 bail from Lake County Criminal Court for bad checks according to the police report.

Deerfield Police charged Pochter with possession of a stolen motor vehicle after getting approval from Assistant Lake County State’s Attorney Michael Hannigan according to the report. Pochter was also allegedly charged with retail theft on a local ordinance, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving with a suspended license according to the report.

The next day Pochter appeared in Lake County Criminal Court where Judge Brian Cox set bail at $25,000 according to the report. Pochter will next appear in court at 9 a.m. Nov. 28 in Waukegan according to the report.

Driving Under the Influence

Rafal Nagaz, 39, of Deerfield was allegedly charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Nov. 6 near the corner of Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads according to Deerfield Police reports.

Nagaz allegedly failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test at the scene according to the report. Nagaz later agreed to take a breath test at the Deerfield Police station and the report allegedly showed a blood alcohol level of .259.

Nagaz was allegedly charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. He was released on a $1,000 bond and will appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 9 a.m. Dec. 7 according to the report.
