Police Blotter: Solicitors Caught After Fleeing Police and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Soliciting Without a License 

Darrel Bea, 28, of Chicago and Richard Logan, 32, of Joliet were arrested Jan. 24 for soliciting without a permit, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

As police approached Bea and Logan, they began to run away, according to the report. When police finally had the opportunity to confront them, they said they were selling candy for a basketball team and admitted to having no permit.

Upon further investigation, police learned Bea was given a previous warning by Deerfield Police for the same offense, according to the report. They were released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in Park City. 

Damage to Property

Windows on a door at a Deerfield Treatment Plant on North Avenue were kicked in between Jan. 18 and Jan. 19, according to Deerfield Police reports.

A municipal employee called the police department at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 19 to report the damage, according to the report. The person said the louvers on the door were kicked in. The report mentioned there was no damage the last time the door was checked at 9 a.m. Jan. 18.

Driver’s License Infraction

Sharnell Sayles, 41, of Waukegan was arrested Jan. 22 for obstructing identification, driving while license suspended and no rear registration light on her vehicle, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police spotted Sayles driving westbound on Lake Cook Road near Corporate Drive without a rear registration light illuminated, according to the report. At first, Sayles claimed she was someone else—who had a license—and admitted her true identity when police asked her for her social security number.

She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 19 in Waukegan, according to the report.
