Police Blotter: Thief Thanks Victim for Stuff

The following incidents were reported by the Deerfield Police Department.

Traffic violation arrest

On July 15, police responded to the area of Estate Drive and Pfingsten Road in reference to a traffic complaint. A witness told officers she watched a Mini Cooper speeding through her subdivision, lost control, and almost hit a Jeep head on.

Once pulled over, the 17-year-old driver told police that she was headed home and admitted to driving fast. The Lake Forest teenager was arrested and charged with reckless driving. Her court date is Aug. 4.

Poolside theft

Police responded to on July 20 to investigate a theft report. A 14-year-old girl told officers that she had left her book bag on a lawn chair while she swam in the pool for 30 minutes.

When she returned to the chair, the bag was gone including an AT&T slide cell phone. The victim told police when she called her phone someone picked it up and thanked her for the stuff.

Money box stolen

On July 21, an administrative assistance at an office at 740 Waukegan Rd. told police a money box containing $49 and a number of medical receipts had been stolen from a small cabinet under the greeting counter.

The woman told officers, other than another employee, only the cleaning service had access to that area.
