Speeding Driver Arrested for Drug Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Possession of Cannabis 

Hector Uriastegui, 24, of Wheeling was arrested April 23 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

Police clocked Uriastegui driving 49 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Deerlake Roads, according to the report. After the stop, police smelled the odor of burnt cannabis on Uriastegui’s breath. Bottles with a leafy substance along with a glass pipe were found. He was released on bond and will appear on Lake County Court at 3 p.m. May 21 in Park City.

Driver’s License Infractions and more 

Turhan Erel, 41, of Northbrook was arrested April 24 for driving with a suspended license and using a hand held electronic device while driving, according to Deerfield Police reports

Police stopped Erel after observing him driving while “holding a cellular phone to his right ear,” according to the report. After the stop, police learned Erel’s license was suspended. He was released on bond. 

James Austin, 25, of LaGrange, was arrested April 23 for driving while license suspended, according to Deerfield Police reports. After a random check, police learned Austin’s license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. June 4 in Park City.
