Stranger Offers Ride to Deerfield Teen

Youngster refuses ride after unknown driver makes suggestion.

An unknown adult offered a 13-year-old Deerfield resident a ride home from school at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the vicinity of Fairview Avenue and Hackberry Drive, according to Police Chief John Sliozis.

The teenager was walking in the area Thursday. “(A) female driver of a gray or silver vehicle, similar to a Jeep Wrangler, approached and asked if the (person) needed a ride home due to the weather,” Sliozis wrote in a communication to Deerfield Public Schools District 109.

The youngster refused the offer and the vehicle left the area. The driver did not leave the car or approach the teen.
