Traffic Stop Leads to Fugitive Arrest

Fugitive Arrest

[Name Withheld], 21, of Shorewood, WI, was arrested July 1 on two outstanding fugitive warrants from Athens County, OH, after a routine traffic stop, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police stopped the car in which [Name Withheld] was riding because the plates had expired. After checking the identification of the driver and passengers, they learned [Name Withheld] was wanted on a pair of warrants in Ohio. She was transported to Lake County Jail to await extradition.

DUI

Gina Sofios, 30, of Glenview was arrested June 29 for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Police observed Sofios drifting between leans as she drove near the intersection of Waukegan and Kates Roads, according to the report. After making the stop, police noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her mouth. She refused to take field sobriety tests and a breath test. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. July 17 in Waukegan.

Driver’s License Infractions

Sigifredo Villegas-Figueroa, 30, of Elgin was arrested July 5 for driving with a suspended license, according to Deerfield Police reports. After a random check on Deerfield Road, police learned his license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. August 20 in Park City.

License Plate Theft

A license plate was taken July 3 from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Lake Cook Road, according to Deerfield Police reports. A witness who knows the owner of the vehicle told police a different person was “crouched down in front of a vehicle.”
