U of C Doc Accused of Exposing Self to Teens in Deerfield Suspended from Practicing

He turned himself into police last week on misdemeanor public indecency and disorderly conduct charges.

The prominent University of Chicago neurologist accused of masturbating at a Deerfield hotel where two 13-year-old boys could see him has been suspended from practicing at the hospital, according to an article in TribLocal.

Jeffrey I. Frank, 53, of Lincolnshire, turned himself into police last week and has been charged with misdemeanor public indecency and disorderly conduct. Police say he was masturbating naked where the boys could see him at a hotel in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road.

He’s faced similar charges nearby in the past, having been charged with public indecency before in the northern suburbs. He pleaded guilty to a 2002 incident in Vermont Hills and a 2006 incident in Wilmette, the TribLocal article says.

Frank has been suspended from caring for patients, the article says. He has also been temporarily barred from practicing medicine in Illinois.

The medical center has also pulled his bio off its website. It had called Frank, the director of the neuromedical/neurosurgical intensive care unit, “an internationally recognized leader” in his field and “a pioneer in the clinical research area of life-threatening brain-swelling after stroke.”
