UPDATE: Deerfield Cops Star in Dateline, 20/20 Series

Marni Yang murder trial makes national TV.

Dateline and 20/20 hit close to home Friday night for local residents. Both NBC and ABC aired pieces on Deerfield’s high-profile murder investigation that started after the slaying of a pregnant woman back in 2007.

If you recall, was gunned down in her Deerfield condo, she was shot six-times. At the time of the shooting she was pregnant with the child of former Bear’s player .

Deerfield investigator Juan Mazariegos and detective Vince Nichols walked Dateline reporter Rob Stafford through their investigation and how they came to arrest . Yang was also sexually involved with Gayle.

In March a jury found Yang of first-degree murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child. Her sentencing is scheduled for April 29.

In March, a jury found Yang guilty of shooting and killing Rhoni Reuter in her Deerfield condo back in 2007. Reuter was pregnant with the child of former Bears player .

It took authorities 18-months to gather enough evidence to charge Yang with the crime. Yang was also romantically involved with Gayle at the time of the shooting. After the verdict was read, applauded local officials for their work on the case.
