Walgreens’ Pharmacist Spots Fraud, Police Make Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jada McNeal, 21, of Justice, was arrested Dec. 7 for forgery, identity theft and attempted unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance when she tried to fill a prescription for 120 pieces of Norco, according to Deerfield Police reports.

A pharmacist at Walgreens in Deerfield called police after McNeal gave one date for the relative she said she was buying medication for and then a different date a few minutes later, according to the report.

After the pharmacist became suspicious, the druggist contacted the issuing physician who indicated the recipient of the intended medicine was not a patient, according to the report. After police arrived, they confronted McNeal and took her into custody.
