Woman Hides Merchandise, Gets Arrested

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft 

Amanda Steinbacher, 25, of Elgin was arrested Oct. 7 for retail theft, according to Deerfield Police reports. Security personnel from Whole Foods observed Steinbacher place a number of items in her cart and one next to her purse in the area of the cart used to seat a child. She later put that one item under her purse, paid for everything else and left the store. When confronted by security personnel she said she forgot. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 in Park City.

A tire to an automobile was found flat Oct. 7 in the Deerfield High School parking lot, according to Deerfield Police reports. During the investigation, police learned a service station employee told the victim the tire was punctured.
