Woman Indicted for Embezzling Over $100,000

Lake County Grand Jury charges former employee of Deerfield company with theft.

A Norridge woman who worked for Fortune Brands in Deerfield until she was arrested March 7 by the Deerfield Police Department was indicted for theft of more than $100,000, a Class 1 Felony, Wednesday by the Lake County Grand Jury in Waukegan.

Kimberly Painter, 37, was arrested March 7 after Fortune Brands contacted Deerfield Police when it discovered discrepancies on business credit card accounts, according to Deerfield Police reports. The arrest came after an investigation by police.

Should she be convicted, Painter could face between four and 15 years in prison, according to a spokesperson for the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office. She is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 2 in Lake County Criminal Court in Waukegan.
