The proposal will give all businesses an outdoor entrance and eliminate the indoor mall portion of the development, according to a proposal submitted to the Village. Patch will have a more detailed story about the project Wednesday.

Frank was present at the meeting representing the company. “We plan to start work immediately and be done by the end of the year,” he said.

Trustee Barbara Struthers expressed concern about people making left turns out of the Lake Cook Road exit. Village Manager Kent Street said his staff would look at the issue. Frank agreed to cooperate.

“We’ll review it and make some recommendations,” Street said. Struthers wants to make sure all safety concerns are covered. She wants to consider limiting left turns onto Lake Cook Road at certain times of the day. Street promised a specific study of possible signage.

Any early guesses as to who/what they will attract to fill the newly developed space? Maybe a mattress store?

In all the Patch discussions, everybody points to The Glen as an example. Wouldn't it be nice if surrounding communities pointed to the Deerbrook Mall as an example of something ... anything? If the plan, doesn't approach anything close to a creative concept, I hope the mayor and Village Board will start erasing some of the Ts and Is. Don't simply put lipstick on the pig, PLEASE.

I agree. Simply moving some lackluster stores around and eating rid of the dumpy empty inside corridor? That's it? How about creatively building a destination!

The new area at the nw corner of 45 and Milwaukee has a packed parking lot every night. What are Lincolnshire and Vernon Hills doing that DF apparently isn't?

The logic that the Village Board uses is beyond stupid... don't expect other communities to point to Deerfield, it is clear that the Board thinks that our tax money is for philanthropic use for investors, not for the betterment of the residents of the community! I sure hope the Mayor and the Board are reviewing the patch comments, they clearly wouldn't have to look far to see what the people think! Deerfiled is not in the business of providing WELFARE to investors.
