Barack Obama Re-Elected President

President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.

NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you."

The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy.

The race tightened during the final months of the campaign, with gaffes and surges from both candidates. After a weak performance after the Republican Convention, Romney surged following Obama’s listless performance after the first presidential debate. Nevertheless, the president cemented a lead in battleground states heading into Tuesday’s election.

It was a surprise to no one that Obama carried his homestate of Illinois.

And Mr. Bush lowered taxes and created our pitfall that Mr. Obama is finally pulling us out of. The Republicans need to dump the Tea Party and start reform or they will not exist in 8 years.

You think lowering taxes killed the econemy.......tell me how that's works? What killed the econemy was policies to get every American in a home regardless of if they could afford it. Plain and simple. We have changed nothing rates are lower than ever and banks are still out of control. Only problem is investors are not a dumb to buy the crappy debt. Nothing makes an econemy grow faster than low taxes. Just think about it, lower taxes equal more money to spend. Only problem is we have out of control govt spending so they have you fooled into thinking they know how to spend your money better than you do or you don't pay federal tax so you don't care.....

Please explain the Bin Laden water boarding comment. Everything I have seen and read says the exact opposite: that it was not involved.

Leon Panetta, the CIA director, has confirmed that controversial “enhanced interrogation techniques” such as waterboarding yielded intelligence information that ultimately led to Osama bin Laden.
