Board Discusses Deerbrook Changes Monday

Starbucks, Subway seek new locations in the shopping center.

Changes to the Deerbrook Mall resulting in a relocation of Starbucks and Subway will be presented to the Village Board of Trustees at 7:30 p.m. today as part of its regularly scheduled meeting.

The Board will also hold a public hearing on its proposed budget for the fiscal year from May 1 through Dec. 31. The Village will operate on a calendar year rather than a fiscal year starting in 2014.

Deerbrook’s owners are asking to relocate Starbucks and Subway to stand alone locations in the mall. Starbucks will move to a spot adjacent to Chase Bank and will have a drive through window on the east side.

Subway will go where the current Devon Bank building stands. That structure will be demolished and a new edifice will contain a 1,200 square-foot Subway and a 2,200 square feet for another tenant.

Should the Village Board approve the report and recommendation from the Plan Commission, an ordinance will be drafted allowing the changes. A vote be taken at a future meeting.
