Brown Gets His State Title Road Sign

Jason Brown becomes the third Deerfield High School athlete or team honored by the Village Board for winning a state championship during the past school year.

What do you need to do to get your own private road sign at the entrances to Deerfield?

All you have to do is win a state title and that happened three times during the 2012-13 school year. The latest Warrior honored was Illinois tennis champion Jason Brown.

Brown led the Pledge of Allegiance at Monday’s Village Board meeting and was given one of the signs proclaiming his accomplishments. “These will be placed at the entrances to the Village,” Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said of the road sign.

Before Rosenthal gave Brown the sign, Warrior Coach Josh Leighton told the Board and others at the meeting about the tennis star’s talents on and off the court including the fact his academic and tennis careers will continue at Yale University in the fall.

Rosenthal also let everyone know , recognizing him as one of the top students in his class.
