Candidates Seek Votes as Campaign Nears End

Campaign commercials continue to dominate the airwaves and pollsters keep surveying 10th Congressional District voters as Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) and Democratic challenger Brad Schneider of Deerfield make their last pitch before Tuesday’s election.

Some district residents reported a telephone survey gathering information on the race despite its lateness in the campaign.

No less intense is the race to succeed retiring state Sen. Susan Garrett between .

Schneider spent the weekend talking to voters at restaurants and other populated spots across the District as well as rallying volunteers and making a few phone calls himself.

"I've been all over the district talking to folks, and what I've been hearing, is that people are energized about our message to fight back against the gridlock and get Washington focused on middle-class families again," Schneider said.

Dold spent much of the weekend on his campaign bus greeting voters at a number of places as well as rallying volunteers to keep knocking on doors and making calls to encourage voters to cast ballots. “We’ve been crisscrossing the district meeting people,” he said.

Friedman joined Dold on the bus tour later in the day. He focused on a personal message while talking to the crowd. “I’ve grew up near here,” he said outside his Highland Park office. “Illinois is a great place to raise a family.”

Morrison spent much of the day knocking on doors throughout the district. “The outpouring of support has been overwhelming," Morrison said.  "I am so grateful for all of the time and effort put in by our wonderful volunteers.  Going door-to-door and talking to voters is what will put us over the top."
