Commercial Film Ordinance Considered in Deerfield

Some residents have complained that film crews are waking their families as early as 6 a.m. and taking up room on narrow roadways, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Crews wanting to film movies, commercials and other ventures in the Village of Deerfield may have some restrictions implemented soon, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Residents have complained recently about the noise and inconvenience the film crews are causing in their neighborhoods. Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said the village is now considering an ordinance to charge film crews $100 for a commercial film permit and require 14-days advanced notice before filming can begin, the newspaper reports. Unlike other nearby communities, Deerfield has not had a film ordinance in place, making it a popular spot for film companies.

Some members of the Village Board of Trustees said at their July 1 meeting a lot of the same homes are used time and again prompting the complaints.
