Community Services Day Premiers Saturday

State Sen. Julie Morrison brings together a variety of opportunities in one place Saturday. Walgreens, National Urban League, Orphans of the Storm and others will participate.

Basic health tests, pet adoptions and improved physical fitness are just some of the services offered for Community Resource Day between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at the office of state Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield).

Morrison is joining forces with Walgreens, the National Urban League, Orphans of the Storm, the Lake County Health Department, Advocate Condell Hospital, West Deerfield Township and Jacobs Homes to offer a variety of opportunities to her constituents and others who show up.

A bus operated by Walgreens and the National Urban League will be there to test people for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, weight assessment and more. Those who want to check how well they walk or run can have their gait evaluated by Advocate Condell Hospital.

There will be opportunities for animal lovers as well. Orphans of the Storm will be offering adopt a pet services and the Lake County Health Department will microchip a pet for $15.

West Deerfield Township will be available to with assist passport services while refreshments will be provided by Jacobs Homes.
