Construction Coming to Osterman Metra Crossing
Crossing will be closed for a week for replacement
The railroad crossing on Osterman Avenue just south of Deerfield Road will be closed for replacement from Wednesday through Oct. 30, according to an email from Victoria Street at the Deerfield-Bannockburn-Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce.
The entire crossing will be replaced and barred to traffic for the week. Though one alternative is the Deerfield Road underpass, that viaduct has a height clearance of 11 feet, 9 inches. Any vehicle exceeding that height must find an alternative like Hazel Avenue.
