Deerfield Considers Banning Electronic Cigarettes in Public

The devices are being used by teens to inhale liquid marijuana, which the village wants to combat.

Deerfield’s Village Board heard recently from police officials about a new danger of electronic cigarettes: teens can use them to smoke the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to an article in TribLocal.

In part because of that concern, the board is considering banning e-cigarettes in public places, the article says. It would do this by adding language about e-cigarettes to existing ordinances banning smoking in public places and the sale of tobacco products to minors.
