The Skokie Village Board unanimously appointed Skokie resident Karen Gray-Keeler as trustee at a village board meeting on Dec. 3.  Gray-Keeler will fill the unexpired term of former village trustee Michael Lorge who resigned several months ago and now serves as the Village’s Corporation Counsel.  The term Gray-Keeler is serving expires in April, 2013.

“I am honored to serve as a Trustee in the Village of Skokie,” said Gray-Keeler.  “Over the years that I have lived in the community, I have had the privilege of enjoying Skokie’s diversity in my neighborhoods and through my professional and volunteer involvement.

"It is important to me to give back to my community, and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve on the Village Board,” she added.

Having lived in Skokie for 25 years, Gray-Keeler and her husband Tom Keeler have three sons.

She is also vice-chair of the Skokie Caucus Party.  Additionally, she served as a PTA officer, president of the Evanston In-School Music Association and was involved with several other community initiatives.

Gray-Keeler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University, and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.
